Mechanical Designer

Description

This position will be responsible for performing structural/mechanical system design and/or analysis for missile launcher platforms.  The Mechanical Designer will also apply knowledge of structural systems, mechanical operating systems design/analysis, materials, and design definition principles in order to create mechanical concept designs and drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.100-2013. Candidate will evaluate designs and perform trade studies for performance, functional adequacy, cost effectiveness, and requirement compliance. 

Tasks include, but are not limited to, 3D CAD modeling, drawings for manufacturing, cable routing, drawing redline incorporation, coordinating with machine shops, system integration, technical writing, generating engineering change requests, supporting test and analysis, mass property studies, interface control documentation, vendor item control drawings, source control drawings, IPT meeting attendance, chart generation, project scheduling, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidate must be a US citizen, and must be a resident of the North Alabama area or be willing to relocate to the North Alabama area. Candidate must have proficient experience with CAD software and 3D Modeling. Candidate must possess a minimum of a BS in mechanical engineering and at least 5+ years experience.

Proficiency in Solidworks 2018 and working knowledge of drawing specifications and military hardware specifications a plus.
